Autoimmune conditions can be complicated, frustrating and deeply personal. For many people, simply getting answers can take years.
During our latest Launch LIVE!, The Autoimmune Upsurge: Healing Through Nutrition, we shared a statistic that puts that frustration into perspective: it takes an average of 4.6 years and five doctors to receive an autoimmune diagnosis, and 46% of people report being told they were overreacting along the way.
So before diving into nutrition, inflammation or lifestyle strategies, we asked attendees a simple question:
Why are you here?
The responses told us a lot. Of the 133 people who answered our opening poll:
- 33% said they have an autoimmune condition
- 22% were interested in prevention and risk reduction
- 12% wanted to learn how nutrition may help manage symptoms
- 11% were attending because someone close to them has an autoimmune condition
- 23% were generally interested in a healthy lifestyle
For many attendees, this wasn’t an abstract health topic. They were looking for information they could use in their own lives or share with someone they care about. And they had questions.
The chat was busy for a reason
Throughout the webinar, attendees asked about Hashimoto’s, inflammation, rheumatoid arthritis, gluten, food sensitivities, chronic fatigue, genetics and more. One attendee put a frustration many people experience into words, asking why the nutrition side of autoimmune health can feel overlooked.
Our clinical education format gave people a place to ask those questions in real time. The session was led by a Registered Dietitian, with additional Launch Registered Dietitians available to help answer questions throughout the event.
The goal wasn’t to prescribe one perfect autoimmune diet. In fact, one of the webinar’s central messages was that there isn’t one diet that works for everyone with autoimmune disease. Nutrition can be part of a comprehensive treatment plan, while still leaving room for individual needs, preferences and enjoyment of food.
That clear, practical approach resonated.
“I like the summary statement of ‘which foods to ADD and which foods to LIMIT.’ That is a good way to frame the issue as it feels less shame-based/more judgement free.”
Another attendee shared:
“I forget sometimes I do have an autoimmune issue and there are some easy things I can be doing (add/subtract) that would help me feel better overall.”
And another summed up the experience simply:
“Extremely well-done, organized, professional, and worth my time! Thanks!”
Turning a complex topic into something people can use
The webinar covered the relationship between inflammation, the gut microbiome and autoimmunity, then moved into practical nutrition and lifestyle strategies. Attendees learned about Mediterranean-style eating, omega-3 fats, phytonutrients, fiber and fermented foods, along with foods and eating patterns they may want to limit. They also learned how to identify personal food triggers without jumping immediately to unnecessary long-term restriction.
Most importantly, the session ended where useful health education should: with a realistic next step. Attendees were encouraged to reflect on their current habits, choose one action to begin now, and seek appropriate specialty healthcare support when needed.
The value doesn’t end when the webinar does
The volume of questions was so high that attendees specifically asked us to share the Q&A after the event. That’s exactly the kind of engagement we want to see. Every registrant receives follow-up resources to help them revisit and apply what they learned, including:
- The full webinar recording
- Launch LIVE! in 5, a five-minute recap of the most important takeaways
- Supporting handouts and resources
- For this webinar, the requested Q&A from the session
Launch My Health clients receive those resources too, giving them content they can continue sharing with employees after the live event. The five-minute recap makes it especially easy to bring timely nutrition education into staff meetings, internal communications and ongoing wellbeing initiatives.
Why this matters for employers
An employee living with unexplained symptoms for years isn’t experiencing that frustration only outside of work.
When the average path to an autoimmune diagnosis stretches to 4.6 years, there is a real opportunity for employers to provide credible health education earlier, help employees ask better questions and give them practical ways to support their health while they navigate care. Launch LIVE! creates access to Registered Dietitians and evidence-informed education without asking employees to sort through conflicting nutrition advice on their own.
The response to The Autoimmune Upsurge: Healing Through Nutrition showed us just how much people want that access.
They came with questions. They stayed engaged. And they left with clear, practical ways to begin.
