Women’s Health Deserves a Bigger Conversation
We’re grateful to share that Brenda Navin, Founder and CEO of Launch My Health, recently joined the Captive Resources community in Austin to speak about an important and often too narrowly defined area of healthcare: women’s health.
Women’s health is often framed around pregnancy, reproductive health and menopause. While those are critically important areas of care, the conversation needs to go much further.
Women can experience symptoms differently. They can respond to treatments differently. And disparities in research, diagnosis and care continue to affect health outcomes throughout women’s lives.
Brenda’s message to attendees was simple: if we want better outcomes, we need to stop thinking of women’s health as a category of healthcare and start considering how women experience healthcare across their entire lives.
The conversation is particularly relevant for employers. As organizations look for meaningful ways to improve employee health and well-being, there is an opportunity to better understand the needs of women across their workforce and to ensure the benefits, resources and support they provide reflect those needs.
At Launch My Health, this thinking is closely connected to the future we’re working to build: one where prevention is prioritized, nutrition and Food Is Medicine are recognized as important parts of whole-person health, and people have practical, evidence-based tools to take a more active role in their health.
We were especially encouraged by the engagement at the Captive Resources conference. Attendees asked thoughtful questions, shared what their organizations are already doing and came ready to explore how employers and healthcare leaders can be part of the solution.
We’re honored that Brenda had the opportunity to contribute to the conversation and grateful to Captive Resources for creating a forum where important healthcare topics like this can be explored openly.
