I don’t usually share recipes myself, but this one felt worth posting, not just because it’s kid-approved, but because it’s a small, everyday example of the Food is Medicine philosophy in action.

Like many busy professionals and workers, I’m constantly balancing nutrition with convenience, especially when it comes to feeding a VERY picky 12-year-old who won’t eat a single vegetable. So I get creative.

These homemade watermelon/strawberry popsicles are my latest success. They’re made from whole, fresh ingredients—no additives, preservatives, or artificial sweeteners. Just simple food that nourishes and supports health at the cellular level.

🍓 50/50 blend of strawberries and watermelon
🍋 Juice of 1 lime
🧂 Pinch of salt
Blend until smooth, pour into popsicle molds, and freeze for ~4 hours.

Compared to commercial frozen treats (most of which are just flavored sugar water), this version offers natural fiber, phytonutrients, and real flavor—with none of the junk. It’s also a great base for smoothies or a creamy version with Greek yogurt. If your fruit is under-ripe or not that sweet, add a little honey or agave to sweeten it up.

These small swaps matter. They’re doable. And they’re one way we can help shift our food culture—at home, in our healthcare system, at work, and in our communities.

Prevention doesn’t have to be complicated, it just has to be intentional.
